Facebook Addiction

So, thanks to my friends - Kylie, Judith & Leanne G. in particular - I finally jumped on the Facebook bandwagon... which is so addictive. I've been spending time today making photo albums and writing on people's walls. I can see how this may serve as serious procrastination of school stuff when I return to work. Though I must admit, it's far more appealing than housework (which needs to be done too, but I much prefer exploring the many aspects of Facebook). Anyhow, it was fun too because I started searching through our picture files and got to reminisce.

Now if only I could juggle a few more balls - I'd really like to try to get some scrapbooking done, as horrid as I am and lacking of creativity as I tend to be, and I'd like to spend far more time making new meals, among other things. Yesterday, however, I must admit I got busy putting together my son's toy box, sans husband I might add, though he's also got some shelves that need to be put up (I'd have done that myself as well, but Greg sleeps in the day when he's on nights).

Anyhow, I suppose since I spent quite some time online this afternoon I really should take advantage of Isaiah's nap and get some more practical things done. But I didn't want to ignore blogging either, though I foresee duplication between this and Facebook in certain ways, that's for sure.

A'ight, so I'm checking out for now!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to my skating team who placed 2nd at nationals in Quebec this past weekend! You guys rock! It's our adult team's first medal at Canadians, so I'm sure they're very pleased to have brought home the silver! Wish I could've been there with you ladies, but I'll have to wait until next year. Congrats again! (The picture is of our medal at Regionals to qualify for Canadians... just in case anyone is wondering!)

I Do

Congratulations to my brother, James, and his wife, Leanne, who were married in Miami on December 31, 2006. Now most of you must think I'm delayed in recording my salutations on this blog, but in fact they are having a wedding reception this weekend for all those family and friends who were unable to attend the nuptials... and those of us who could, too. Looking forward to celebrating your marriage, guys... and welcome to the family officially Leanne!

Oh, and I can't resist adding a picture of our little man who wore his first suit back then (hopefully it fits him again in two days, seeing as he's already a hefty 16 lbs. 8 oz. at 3 months)... ain't he a cutie? We think so!

Good Luck at Nationals!

Should any of my team-mates check out this blog, just wanted to post well wishes for you guys at nationals this weekend! I'm unfortunately unable to skate with them as my brother's wedding reception is this Saturday; however, I know they'll bring home some hardware because they're just so fantabulous! Good luck Classic Jets! Skate for that first adult medal at Canadians for Ilderton! I'll be thinking of you, and wishing I could skate with you too (just can't be in two places at once!).

Any Suggestions?

Okay, so I flew through that last read... I'll be glad when night nursing sessions are over with, but for now reading beats trying to find something decent to watch on t.v.! So, I'm looking for any suggestions for a new book to pick up as I've exhausted my small stash of literature that was in my bedside table drawer. I've a ton of novels still packed, but without an office any longer (yes, even though we upgraded houses, I lost that room) they'll likely not see the light of day for some time. If anyone has recently had a good read and might recommend me something they liked, I might pick it up! Looking forward to finding myself engaged in a new story soon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone... and Happy 3-month Birthday to my son, Isaiah! Hard to believe 3 months have already gone by, time does fly by so quickly! Anyhow, just wanted to wish everyone a day full of celebrating whatever love is in your life!

Gotta get back to my secret scheming as I plot to make some special Valentine's Day moments for my husband and son... I'd share the details but Greg might just get bored at work and check out our blog, so I don't want to spoil anything! But I must admit, this year is good... I've been quite clever, if I do say so myself! So I bid our blog adieu, until next time (which likely be soon as it seems I've taken to this blogging business apparently!)...

Alphabet Tag

I stole this idea from my friend Jen's blog, even though you're supposed to get tagged first. I just thought it was a cute way to share some information (and apparently I never tire of this Q & A format so endlessly shared through emails). Hope you enjoy a few tidbits about me...

A - Available or Taken: Taken
B - Best Friend: My husband, Greg
C - Cake or Pie: Both, I’ve a serious sweet tooth...
D - Drink of Choice: Strawberry daiquiris
E - Essential items you use Everyday: Right now, diapers for Isaiah... and lots of them!
F - Favorite Colour: Buttercream yellow (right, bridesmaids?)

G - Gummy Bears or Worms: Neither, my sweet tooth extends to candy so far as Sweettarts and sour keys
H - Hometown: Rural route Arva - doesn’t that just say it all? And technically on the outskirts of the metropolis of Ballymote... even better!
I - Indulgence: Chocolate - I tend to have a morsel every day
J - January or February: February - less days to get through the cold winter
K - Kids & Names: Isaiah, a beautiful boy who will be 3 months on Valentine’s Day
L - Life is incomplete without?: My family and friends sharing in the moments made
M - Marriage Date: July 9, 2005
N - Number of Siblings: 1 brother as well as a step-sister and 2 step-brothers
O - Oranges or Apples: Apples by far, save for at half in a soccer match when oranges do the trick
P - Phobias or Fears: Bugs in my house tend to freak me out some (I use the "I’m too short to reach up to squish ‘em" excuse), and I don’t really like feet too much either
Q - Fave Quote: As of yesterday when searching to include an inspirational one of this blog, I came up with: "And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years." ~Abraham Lincoln
R - Reason to Smile: My schnookums, Isaiah, and my hubby, Greg... and my big 'ole suck of a dog Raider is good for a laugh or two too!
S - Season: I must love them all, I live in Canada don’t I?
T - Tag 3-4 people: I only know 3 people who maintain blogs, one of whom I stole this from rather than get tagged, so I'm not going to tag those 3 simply because it wouldn't be fair!
U - Unknown fact about me: I can do a pretty good side plank pose as well as a reclining heroine pose (though my stellar yoga instructor Terri calls it something else, I think...)
V - Vegetable you don't like: Zucchini... and cucumber (except when my grandma magically turns them into pickles!)

W - Worst Habit: I’m slightly obsessive compulsive when it comes to keeping my house clean and "in order" - yes, even with a new baby!
X - X-rays: Broken leg (femur); knee and ankle (thanks to skating!)
Y - Your Fave Food: Oh, I’d have to go with my mom’s cooking rather than singling out one particular food... I’ve still not mastered the fine art myself!
Z - Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius

A Novel Rave

Okay, so I attempted to do this in the reverse order and make some clever segue from the title of the novel below to this subject, but uploading the images did not agree with my original plans, so we'll have to work backwards... which is cause for confusion at the beginning of a blog when I start it this way!

Anyhow, this would be our house... back during construction stage... as I realize few of you who may check out this blog will yet to have seen it. I've unfortunately not got a better picture to load simply because it's so darn cold outside these days that I venture out solely when absolutely necessary! So, perhaps I'll update the photo soon, particularly since our house looks far nicer than this - it's actually fully bricked (imagine that!) and the snow drifts piled up add a certain touch of beauty, considering we've still that mucky clay terrain underneath which I can't wait to see again come spring! Onto where I wanted to begin this blog...

I must take a moment to rave about a novel I've begun reading, The Birth House. My mom gave it to me during my pregnancy, but what with the move and the chaos of new mom-ship, I hadn't yet cracked the spine (my colleague Allison would not approve, but I've turned into a spine cracker as I've had to master the reading-while-nursing-at-3:30-a.m. technique). Well, now that I have I must say it's actually a pretty fantastic read thus far. I'm generally fairly easily hooked, for some reason, to genuine Canadian literature above all else, but I also need to like the storyline and style of writing to keep with it. Point being, my brief rave here is simply to say check it out if you like, should you be an avid reader who might like to see what it's about! I won't give the details, you can see for yourself!

Well, Fussy McFusserson (otherwise known as our darling Isaiah, but who today has been a little cranky - must be because football is now over so his Sunday routine has been disturbed) is waking up from his cat nap. So, I'd best attend to him and think about putting dinner together as well (yes, I have been making an honest attempt to assemble meals since becoming a mom... I'd like a gold star please). For those of you who know my cooking challenged ways or who have ever had to suffer through my dinners but were too polite to say how rotten they really were, you know this is a big step! So, until next time...

Our Angel

So we did a photo shoot of our little munchkin this week, which surprisingly went well (save for getting peed on at one point, a small sacrifice for having him in naked glory!). Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures, Kim does such fantastic work!

Welcome to Blogging, Natalie!

Well, after much inspiration from friends Janalynn & Leanne, who themselves maintain blogs, I've decided to venture into the world of blogging... I've no clue how this will turn out, nor how much time I have to make this initial post as Isaiah is stirring from his nap and I've got to leave for yoga class soon, but we'll see what we can do.

I'm hoping that I will be able to post the daily happenings of the Rebelo family online, so you can share in our world! Hopefully it will serve as an updated version of my mass update emails notoriously sent by me once a month. I've got to get with the times!

Anyhow, this is just a brief trial... I'm anxious to see how the site will actually look! So, without further hestitation...
